Based on research interviews and co-designed with employers and individuals with lived experience, it highlights both the strengths these workers bring—such as resilience, compassion and transferable skills—and the barriers they may face in accessing employment. The guide explains key definitions, right‑to‑work requirements, and practical steps for safer recruitment, including documentation and checks. It also offers advice on creating welcoming, inclusive workplaces and signposts further resources to help employers build confident, supportive and compliant employment practices.
